PATIENCE! NOW!

"Patience is not simply the ability to wait. It's how we behave while we're waiting."

— Joyce Meyer

We treat patience like it's something you're born with — you either have it or you don't. At The Dojo, we see it differently. Patience is trained the same way a strong stance or a clean technique is trained: through repetition, through frustration, through doing the same drill for the hundredth time when you'd rather move on to something new.

The white belt who wants to skip ahead to flashy techniques. The parent who wants to see six months of progress in six weeks. The student stuck on a plateau, convinced they're not improving even as their body quietly learns. In every case, the lesson is the same: growth doesn't move in a straight line, and rushing it doesn't speed it up — it just makes the process more painful than it needs to be.

Patience isn't passive. It's not waiting around. It's showing up and doing the work anyway, on the days when progress is invisible. That's the version of patience we try to build here — not calm resignation, but disciplined persistence.
